Great Britain Lions almost pull off shock result in Fiji

THREE West Cumbrians played their part in what was nearly a big upset by the touring Barla Great Britain Lions.

Egremont prop Richard Farrer and Kells centre Scott Lofthouse started for GB against Fiji Bati at the weekend with Seaton’s Richard George coming on off the bench.

And in a game that saw the lead change five times the Lions nearly created the biggest shock in world rugby league by downing the colours of the Fiji Bati who reached the semi finals of last year’s World Cup in Australia.

Trailing 8-4 at the break the Lions took the game to Fiji with some superb play in the second half and looked in control 16-12.
