James Cooper, Australian PGA Member and principal of Avid Sports Management has recently demonstrated that PGA qualifications are world renowned.

Cooper has welcomed a new era of golf in Fiji, opening the first managed world class golf facility, the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.

As the Managing Director of Avid Sports Management, Cooper says that the opening of Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course follows the company’s success in strategic golf planning, particularly in the Asia Pacific region.

“Our innovative hands on approach, matched with out thorough knowledge and understanding of today’s golfing landscape, has enabled us to create Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course as a world class facility that we are very proud to open today” he said.

The 18 hole championship course is the largest and first of its kind to be undertaken in Fiji, and boasts 15 holes overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Natadola Beach, which has been nominated as one of the top beaches in the world by Forbes Traveller.

The course also includes a state-of-the-art driving range, sophisticated club house and a short game practice facility. The course also adjoins the 5-star Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa.

Cooper is no stranger to success in managing world class golf facilities, with diverse experience including management of courses such as Hyatt Coolum, Pelican Waters and Laguna Quay, as well as responsibility for The Dunes, Kennedy Bay and Moonah Links while in his role at IMG.

Natadola Bay Resort Limited Chairman, Felix Anthony, believes that Avid Sports Management’s knowledge of the industry and strong marketing background secured then the management and maintenance agreement at the golf course.

“James and his team have brought a hands on approach with solid expertise and experience to prepare the golf facility to world class standards and we are very excited that this course is ready to open” he said.

Avid Sports Management delivers golf facility planning, development and management, sports marketing and athlete management.
