The PIB has charged few traders for breach of price laws.

Would it be possible to publicize the offense and the penalty, please?

Just for interest’s sake. Someone said that traders can afford to breach price control because the penalty is accommodating, so to speak.

I went into Lautoka to buy something and found that the price of the item had gone up.

When I asked why, the storekeeper said it was because his rent had gone up. I told him that was ok. But he said it was rent on his home.
Residential rent has been frozen yet some home owners are still raising their rent.

I wonder what the PIB can do about this because if the tenant can’t pay the landlord just finds someone who will pay and you are thrown out.

I believe the PIB has no powers to prosecute this.
