I heartily congratulate the Nasinu Town Council on its campaign to eradicate stray dogs. It’s not an easy job and it’s expensive. Many times we start acting on problems only when they get out of hand. The Nasinu Town Council may have saved millions of dollars but being proactive. When little things happen we disregard it and say, “Oh, we will look into it soon.” We usually forget to act when it was necessary and things get worse. We look silly after that.<'p>
However I have one issue and that is the law that says trapped dogs will be kept for 24 hours so that owners can come and collect them. Can the owner be fined the amount it cost the Council so that there is no loss to the Council coffers. To save money I say, put the dog down as soon as it is caught, you know why, if the dog was properly looked after it would not go looking for food or stray. If the Council can adopt an instant eradication process, we will soon clean up our streets of stray dogs. A dog that goes looking for food is not a pet it’s just a dog, not even a guard dog. If someone says that I am being too harsh then look after your dog properly so that it doesn’t stray nor bark uselessly.
