"This will assist parents to monitor the progress of their children’s work and having the right information they need to make decisions.
"Lack of information from schools leaves many parents in the dark about their children’s performances," he said.
He urged parents to attend PTA meetings, parents’ day or any other meetings from school for the purpose of exchanging information between them and teachers.
Furthermore the Minister encouraged parents to be accessible, visible and audible to their children regardless of children’s age groups.
"Open dialogue and conversation between them and children at home help in the strengthening of family bond and boosting of children’s confidence in their parents," Mr Bole said.
The advice came about as a result of some principals raising their concern on how parents take advantage of the Ministry of Education’s directive towards the progression of their children to upper forms.
Principals found that many parents who pressure them to act according to the directive are amongst those who hardly communicate with the school regarding their children’s performances.
The principals alleged that children of these groups of parents are the ones who have difficulties in their project works and assignments because they hardly receive assistance from home.
The Minister hopes that with all the assistance such as transport, textbooks and fees provided by the government, parents will be more participatory this year.
