Japan declines offer of Fiji water

Submitted by TemoL on Tue, 26/04/2011 - 7:25am

Japan has declined an offer by Fiji to supply eight container loads of bottled water to the zone affected by last month’s earthquake and tsunami.

The Fiji government had explored ways it could help Japan and it says through its embassy in Tokyo, free storage of the water in Japan was organised.

However, the information ministry in Suva says according to official information from Tokyo, the water supply in the disaster zone is being normalised.

It quotes Japan’s prime minister’s office as expressing appreciation for the proposal and thoughtfulness.
