Fiji welcomes ILO support

The Minister for Labour and Industrial Relations, Filipe Bole says Government has welcomed a commitment by the International Labor Organisation to help reduce our decent work deficit.

This is in the form of providing necessary technical assistance to social partners and ensuring the successful implementation of the Decent Work Country Programme.

He added that partnership and support were important in tackling issues related to achieving our Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s).

“Because of the complex nature of the decent work agenda in the context of globalization, the successful implementation of Fiji’s DWCP will mainly depend on the good faith and partnership among Fiji’s tripartite social partners as well as between them and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) with other regional and international support agencies,” he said.

“May we emerge stronger and better in building our nation to give the next generation a much better legacy in the world of work – where our men and women can access and obtain decent and productive work in conditions of freedom, equity, security and human dignity.”
