Fiji calls for help to meet development goals

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says there needs to be greater collaboration among groups in Fiji if it is to achieve the country's Millennium Development Goals.

Speaking at the Millennium Development Goals "Stand Up, Take Action" launch in Suva earlier this week, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the government could not achieve the goals on its own.

He says the government needs help from the private sector, with NGO's civil societies and the media.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum singled out the media, saying it needs to be pro-Fiji to achieve the development goals.

The Pacific Islands News Association and the United Nations organised Tuesday night's launch.
