The Korean investors, who are members of Lions Club International, were hosted recently by the Kalabu Women’s Club and accorded a Fijian traditional welcoming ceremony at the Kalabu Community Hall, where they distributed goodwill donations of clothing and financial assistance to the women’s group.

The purpose of their visit included meeting relevant heads of Government agencies and business and private sector chief executive officers as well as explore investment opportunities in Fiji.

The Korean Investor Tour Group is coordinated by Dong–A Holding (Fiji) Limited in collaboration with the Lions Club International of Korea.

Expressing his gratitude and appreciation for the warm hospitality and welcome, the Governor of Lions Club International and President of Daeruk Industrial Company, Mr YoungDo Yoo, said the Lions Club hoped to be of great assistance to the community of Kalabu and Fiji as a whole.

Similar sentiments were echoed by the president of the Kalabu Women’s Club, Mrs Litia Rawiriwiri. Mrs Rawiriwiri said the Lions Club was also investing in the Nakasi City Project, a first of its kind in Fiji.

“I think this is the beginning of a formation of a Korea–Fiji Business Council and I was told that the Lions Club International of Korea will be sponsoring 20 children of Kalabu for 2010,” she said.

Mrs Rawiriwiri also commended Government for enabling the Korean investors to visit Fiji and assist the Kalabu community in employment opportunities and educating the children of Kalabu.
