Mr Koroikata said although initial talks had started there has not been any concrete agreement.
“Talks had been on going but we want to make things happen and we are positive that things would turn out in our favour,” Mr Koroikata said.
“Dubai has attracted world attention through many innovative, large construction projects and sports events. This increased attention, coincides with its emergence as a global city.”
Like Fiji, tourism in Dubai is an important part of the Dubai government's strategy to maintain the inward flow of foreign reserves.
Apart from ancient and modern attractions, Dubai's allure is largely oriented around its shopping experience. As of 2007, Dubai is said to be the 8th most visited city of the world.
Mr Koroikata: “Tourism Fiji has tried its hands on marketing Fiji to the world and Dubai holds the key to more market that could see an increase in our tourism figures.”
Apart from Dubai, Fiji is looking at tapping the Asian markets namely India, Malaysia and Singapore.
