Ms Rogers said that FTIB is still in the planning stages, which requires a significant amount of funding for land.
While FTIB was fortunate to establish the Kalabu zone in 1997 with the generous support of the European Union, Ms Rogers is hoping that international organisations would step in and help the Fiji economy move forward. This is also part of the MDG in developing global partnership for development.
The tax-free West zone part of FTIB's medium to long term plan.
The establishment of tax-free regions to boost activity in depressed areas is a welcome move as investors are interested in looking at the whole tax-free region, Ms Rogers added.
But for it to progress infrastructure is an issue and fortunately Government is targeting major infrastructure improvements.
With speciifc infrastructure in place, Ms Rogers is positive tax-free regions will definitely take off.
