The Learning Centre

From the Principal

Established in 1995, The Learning Centre, is affectionately known to all as TLC. It is no coincidence that this mirrors the well known anagram Tender Loving Care. Children at TLC are guaranteed a caring and nurturing atmosphere in which to learn and grow.

Small classes of no more than eighteen students ensure that every child is valued as an individual and given the opportunity to discover their strengths and flourish. Surrounded by committed and understanding teachers, the children learn to be inquisitive and independent and to show kindness and tolerance towards each other. The wonderful mix of race and culture at TLC offers the children an invaluable education in itself and the school does much to strengthen and preserve cultural diversity, whilst still developing a positive sense of self.

The teachers and Executive Committee of TLC are committed to providing the best possible education for each child in their care. We believe in open-door communication and would encourage all parents to be as involved as possible in their child’s daily learning and the school community as a whole.

Please take the time to go through our page, so that you may understand the culture of the school and discover the many ways in which we can work together in partnership to offer a rewarding experience for your child.

Welcome once again to the TLC family!

About Us

At The Learning Centre, we believe each child is a unique human being with personal interests and special talents. We know that children flourish in an educational environment that values them as individuals. We work to encourage their natural curiosity and innate enthusiasm for learning and their dreams. We know and understand the value and importance of co-curricular activities to the child’s learning development and ensure their inclusion in the weekly programs.

We also believe in the continuing education of our teachers. Teachers must grow in their understanding of their work and the children under their care. We know that teachers need to continuously extend and develop their professional and administrative knowledge and skills. Regular staff development workshops enable the staff to keep abreast of developments in educational thought and practice, and to extend their cultural and educational interests.

We understand the importance of working hand-in-hand with parents in building a positive environment for children’s learning. We appreciate that parents are an invaluable resource in The Learning Centre community.
